America's yesterday
“And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive,
and pray to the Lord for it, for in its peace you will have peace.”
Jeremiah 29:7 (NKJV)
Election day is here, and as Americans, we are given a precious opportunity to steward our voice through voting. Yes, the lines may be long and the wait may be trying, but casting your vote is an act of care for your community, your nation, and the world around you. It’s like planting a seed of hope in the soil of democracy.
So, as we stand in line, it can feel like we carry the weight of history with us. We shuffle forward, inch by inch, just as the Israelites moved slowly and steadily toward their promised land—with purpose in every step. We patiently wait for our turn and hold our plastic ballot like a shepherd’s staff. Even though we are just one person, one vote, one voice in a vast crowd, remember this: each drop of rain fills a mighty river.
Therefore, as we stand within the voting booth and insert our identity card into the machine, think of it as a small sacrifice—a piece of yourself invested in the future. You’re not just tapping squares with your stylus. No, not at all. You are casting a prayer for a nation in need of help, guidance, and security.
Precious one, as you cast your ballot, know you are joining a million other voices. People just like you who are hoping, praying, and believing in the power of “we the people.” S0, as you step away from the ballot box and place that little “I Voted” sticker on your chest, wear it like a badge of honor. That small, sticky symbol is a reminder that you’ve fulfilled your responsibility not just as a citizen of this nation, but as a steward of God’s gifts.
You see, in a world that often feels out of our control, voting is one way to stand firm and make an honest difference. It’s a way to "seek peace in the city where He has placed you, and to pray to the Lord for it, for in its peace you will have peace” (Jeremiah 29:7 NKJV). God has given each one of us a voice ... use it freely and honestly. Cast your seed of hope with love.
Heavenly Father,
As I step forward in faith and cast my vote, may You unite every heart with love and hope and peace for our nation. Guide our leaders with divine wisdom, so that every decision made serves Your greater plan for our world. In Jesus' name. Amen.
