"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Galatians 6:9 NIV
Doing good isn’t always about the grand gesture of the moment or standing center stage for all to see. Sometimes, it’s about the quiet work happening deep inside of us. It’s about who we are—our character, our heart, and our willingness to love like Jesus. Think of a day where life cocooned you in a cozy, emotional blanket. You know, a day when your heart felt all warm and fuzzy, like someone added an extra dash of sugar to your soul.
Those are the moments when you look at the world through God-loving glasses—ready to see the needs around you and, more importantly, ready to "do good." And "doing good" doesn't have to mean moving mountains or parting seas. Nope. Sometimes, it’s as simple as offering a smile to a stranger or holding the door for a tired mom juggling five kids, diaper bags, and a whole lot of patience. Maybe it’s helping an elderly neighbor unload groceries from their car, or just sitting quietly with a troubled and lonely teenager. These small, everyday acts of kindness may seem like nothing, but they ripple out in ways we may never fully understand.
You see, these beautiful moments are often born without fanfare. They aren’t done for applause or recognition. And that’s okay because the real ooey-gooey happens in our hearts—when God whispers and we respond. It’s not about being seen or praised; it’s about being present to love. It's about noticing the need and letting our hearts answer the call, simply because ... well, because we desire to help.
And let’s be honest—sometimes we don’t fully understand that ooey-gooey, warm-fuzzy feeling that swells in our chests when we "do good." It’s an indescribable mix of joy, peace, and a little bit of wonder, like something bigger than us is at work. That’s the Holy Spirit moving through us, lighting up our lives as we share God’s love with others. Jesus lived this way every single day—teaching, showing, and expressing love in ways big and small. His life was a masterpiece of goodness, and we’re invited to do the same, even in our simplest actions.
So, dear one, never grow tired of doing good. Some days, it may feel like your kindness goes unnoticed, like your efforts don’t matter. But ..."Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (Galatians 6:9 NIV). May we always remember to trust and know that our God sees every goodness, even in the smallest of acts.
Heavenly Father,
I pray You fill my heart with Your love and kindness. Help me to see the needs of others through Your eyes and respond with compassion. Guide me to do good, even in the smallest of ways, and remind me that every act of love reflects Your grace. In Jesus' name. Amen.
