"It is of the Lord's mercies, that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV
Life is full of struggles. We suffer. We hurt. We go through trials that whisk us down unexpected alleys, transport us onto perilous highways, or even take us for a rollercoaster without a seatbelt. During those moments, lifting our hands to the sky and praising our Creator can be a challenge. Instead, we wipe away frustrated teardrops and search for a tiny glimmer of hope hiding in the stormy sky.
As life would have it, we know Divine comfort is out there. It could be in the gentle whisper of the wind, or it could be as blatant as a neon sign in the dark alley. Doesn't really matter. We want comfort. We need help. We want something--anything. If we look hard enough, listen close enough—I mean, really squint our eyes and open our hearts and minds—we'll discover even in the darkest and most despairing moments, there is a lamp of hope waiting.
God's unconditional love and His unwavering grace illuminates our path. You see, our God is merciful. He is willing to use any method necessary to showcase His magnificence in order to help us through our circumstance. He has no problem interrupting our life to draw us closer to Him.
Dear one, our Jesus struggled—and that is stating it mildly. He faced doubts, desertion, agony, denial, loneliness. Judas betrayed him. Peter denied him three times. Peter also, along with the other disciples, fell asleep while they were supposed to pray for Jesus.
Our Savior fought (mentally and physically) an excruciating battle while carrying and dragging the rugged cross to Calvary's Hill. Throughout his life, Jesus experienced a full-range of human emotions and struggles. The difference? Jesus had faith in his Father—our God.
If we allow faith to intercede our negative circumstances, we begin to understand and see how God uses our problems, our situations, to glorify His name. To us, the images may be foggy, but to God, He always sees what we cannot. He peers through the mist and lays claim to every soul in need of His help to further his work for His kingdom.
Beloved, let's raise our lamp of faith high and give praise to the One who genuinely cares and truly knows us. When despair darkens our path, let His mercy illuminate our steps. When our faith travels through the fog and all hope seems lost … "It is of the Lord's mercies, that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV).
Heavenly Father,
Open my heart and mind that I may see your abundant mercies and loving grace. When I stand alone and afraid, strip me of all fears and wrap me in your all-consuming compassion. Light my path. Great is thy faithfulness. Great are your mercies. In Jesus' name. Amen.
