"What then shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
Romans 8:31 KJV
My heart hurts for this world, for the people who have nowhere to turn, for the future that offers a sorrowful basket of dim and dank. Older adults are barely making ends meet. I cringe for the young adults raising a family, oblivious to the hardships and challenges that accompany an economic crisis.
Gas is up to almost four dollars a gallon and in some places higher. Meat and groceries have hit an all-time high. School fees, medical insurance, and pharmaceuticals, well, let's not even discuss those. Our world is slowly snuffing out the life of the dollar bill.
Surviving a governmental financial disaster is like grasping the edge of a cliff during an earthquake. How long can your fingertips grip the ledge before exhaustion takes over and the fall occurs? Only divine intervention can stop the splat of excruciating pain during times of survival.
Beloved, all things considered ... "What then shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31 KJV). Indeed, God is the only one who can offer wisdom and understanding to these things. So, even though the world may seem against us, we have evidence that God is for us: the incredible gift of Jesus Christ.
As the world ages, the method for surviving becomes increasingly difficult. Jesus bore the cross on Calvary for us. For our sins. You see, our faith and belief will overcome that ominous cliff. It can even provide a foothold to propel us up and onto solid ground. So, despite life's sorrowful basket of dim and dank, let us focus on the joyful vision of God's power working through us to sustain and glorify His name.
Heavenly Father,
I praise Your helping hand and the love You show me, no matter who is against me. When my grip grows weary and the earthquake roars, I praise You for lifting my feet onto solid ground. I know You are forever on my side. In Jesus' name. Amen.
